![]() I very much enjoyed this story about formerly conjoined twins with a demigod father, and I’ve wanted to read more of her work ever since. My first-and only, before this book-experience with Nalo Hopkinson’s writing was her most recent novel, Sister Mine. Dick Award nomination, a New York Times Notable Book, two Sunburst Awards, a Gaylactic Spectrum Award, and a Prix Aurora Award. Wildly imaginative and fiercely told, The Fifth Season is an excellently written fantasy far removed from the traditional trappings of knights and castles. The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin is one of these sorts of books however, and I’m extremely pleased to say this, it is one of the best books I have read in years. ![]() It’s why some people are always so skeptical of books that receive nothing, but praise when they release. A double edged sword of massive proportions, it can cut the readers, and the authors, with nary a chance for either side to regain their footing. There is no greater threat in the book industry than hype.
